Worship Highlights for February
February 12: So there’s Namaan, desperately needing healing, wanting miracle to save his life. What message does he got from God? “Just wash in my river.” Just wash! That’s so easy and yet Namaan protested, wanting it more difficult. “Doing the Hard-To-Do-Easy Things” is today’s theme as we look at Namaan’s story in 2 Kings 5:1-14. Additional scripture is Psalm 30.
February 19: Transfiguration of the Lord Sunday “From Your Face to Our Hearts” is our sermon this morning. This Sunday is our opportunity to open our mind’s eye to witnessing God’s glory being revealed in our lives now as we look at how the witnesses to Christ’s transfiguration responded. Scriptures are Mark 9:2-9 and 2 Corinthians 4:3-6.
February 22: Ash Wednesday, 6:00 pm Service Please join us for this incredibly important worship service where we prepare to enter into the season of Lent, a time of seven weeks where we prepare ourselves to walk with Jesus on his way to Jerusalem, betrayal, crucifixion, death and resurrection. Before we can begin we need to recognize what in our life has pulled us away from deepening our relationship with God, where we have gone wrong, where we are broken. And after recognition, we need to confess and release these burdens. This evening’s simple, contemplative service will include the Imposition of Ashes.
February 26: 1st Sunday of Lent “Everlasting”, God’s covenant and faithfulness with us we will explore as we reflect upon the promise God made to Noah. Texts today are Genesis 9:8-17 and 1 Peter 3:18-22.
